About ama music

海女 in Japanese - literally ‘women of the sea’, the ama are traditional free-divers dating back 2,000 years. They tend to pearls and harvest them - once upon a time for the emperors of Japan.

They are strong, courageous and dedicated to their craft.
ama music will be your buddy for your deep dive.

I am both a businesswoman and a musician. My mission is to use my 20+ years of experience in the industry to help musicians and musical institutions to cut through the noise, while they focus on what they do best: making music.

I studied cello and piano at the Royal College of Music, London and then at the Robert Schumann Hochschule, Düsseldorf, and worked as a chamber musician and orchestral cellist in London and Germany. Since then I’ve held a broad variety of management roles at organisations across the industry, including the BBC Proms, Universal Music, Decca Classics, IMG Artists, BBC Classical Music TV and Avex Classics International.

Unusually, I also spent some years in the Travel Industry as Tours Director for an SME and I have an MBA (Global) from Manchester Business School. I’m also a bit of a sailing fanatic – I find being a racing skipper teaches important lessons about teamwork!

I operate in a down-to-earth and open-minded way. We will take your music and get it out into the world, without compromising any of its integrity.
